Disaster strikes NASA Astronauts family
« on: January 09, 2011, 04:02:25 AM »
"Gabrielle Giffords, the US Congresswoman, was shot at a grocery store in Tuscon, Arizona today, along with possibly as many as 11 other people."

She is in critical, but stable condition, and doctors are optimistic.

Rep. G. Giffords is married to Discovery CDR, Mark Kelly, whose twin brother Scott Kelly, is the current ISS Commander.

GET WELL, Rep. Giffords!

Absolutely concur with those sentiments. Shocking news from across the pond. Much sympathy to all involved, especially the family of the young girl tragically killed. A sad day indeed.

I don't understand what is going on in some peoples mind. How come to shoot/kill a being or even many?

Anyway, this disaster will have an impact/change on the STS-134 crew member selection. I feel very sorry for Mark Kelly and Scott Kelly but also for all the other families which suffer from that shooting. For Scott Kelly this certainly marks the actual end of his mission at the ISS even if he remains onboard until March.

However, there are different news. Some report that Giffords died, some report she might make it.
