Abut the SRB thing, I agree too. I just mention that since it's already done with Ares 1-X, it's pretty easy to implement on the rest of the STS missions. It's mostly eye candy, though. MON2 seems to be even more likely to be the upcoming feature... might be wrong.

I really fail to understand why "follow SRB until spashdown" is so high on pplĀ“s wishlist??

- It has zero bearing on a shuttlemission, but would be handy on a "NASA-TV simulator" ...

But hey, every addon to this gem is worth it!!

Well, for a proper flight simulation, eye candy is as important as systems simulation and procedures simulation as well. If it is not important that the SRB's can be seen during return to the surface for example, then it wouldn't also be important to see anything outside, i.e. remove the entire external view capabilities for those who don't care about eye candy. Just implement the interior views and window views, systems and procedures, and that's it.

A flight simulation for personal computers should always try to provide as much features as possible for both, systems/procedures and eye candy stuff. Even the old "Shuttle"-sim by Virgin, 18 years ago, already did show the entire rollout to the pad and the SRBs returning to earth for example. So why should that not be available in a simulation in the 21th century? The argument that eye candy just is eye candy did never make any sense to me, especially in relation to flight simming. It is an argument by users who either are unwilling to update their hardware for some years, or who are rather casual users in my point of view. But mostly it's the fear of performance loss, which is not the problem of developers or the majority who wants all the visible stuff ;)
