Space Shuttle manuals
« on: November 21, 2007, 09:46:43 PM »
Hello,

Some years ago, I have bought a 4 CDRoms package concerning Space Shuttle. There is more than 35000 pages in pdf files about Flight checklists, Handbooks, Launch Commit Criteria, Internal Operational Books and NASA Astronaut Training manuals.

I will be happy to share some of this information but I have no idea how to do it. One each CD there is a small PDF file with the table of contents.

Maybe can I send these files to somebody by email in order to see if there is some interest for the community.

Let me know.

I know exactly what stuff you are talking about.

Since this is a commercial package, we strongly discurage "sharing" it as it would be a breach of copyright. Please DO NOT discuss these issues on this board!

The best thing you could do is point people to the place they can BUY it. If I remember well, it was not that expensive.

Thank you,

Ok sorry, I haven't examined my proposal under this angle and it was not my intention to make something illegal.  :(

If I remember I have bought it at Amazon site but I'm not sure it would be still available.

No problem  - I know that your intention was not illegal. That's why we did not ban you immediately :-)

This is the company(?) who sells the Shuttle CD (and much, much more). I hope they are still in business.

Notice the email at the bottom. It's a good idea to discuss things with them directly.

OK - you can buy the CD here:

I have a question if all the informantion is not copyrighted and free and avalabale from diffrent locations on the internet...how can it be ileagle to give it out since its all avalable on the web anyway? you pay for the convenence of haveing all in 1 place. but the info is free to anyone.its not user created information like a song or poem.like we collect manuals for firearms and put them on disk for our combat arms dept.and give them out is that illeagle? no cause the info is free already  no if the man wrote the stuff himself yes than it would be ileagle just because he collected it and put it on disk and sells it? can you even sell information thats free already no you cannot so your only paying for the disk and convenence of haveing it all their, it would be ileagle for HIM to sell just the info because it falls under the freedom of information act. just wondering  I will ask my lawer friend maybe im wrong anyway just wondering. your paying for the disk and the time. anyway don't get upset with me just pointing out thats its not illeagle to share the info.
Completed..STS 1,8,23,26,27,31,32,47,88

Simking, let's not get into the copyright argument because in this case you'll lose. Take my  advice and accept the fact that that disk is copyrighted. Not everything is on the Net and not everything is free-for-all. That disk has MANY items which are not freely available on the net and even if they were, you may copy and give away the things you find legally on the net but definitely NOT copy that DVD or its contents! That is illegal anyway.

Let's stop the argument here as this is not the right forum for copyright discussions. Let's stick to the topic. If you want that DVD, you must buy it. Amazon sells it. If you are pleased with whatever you find on the net, that's fine too :)
