STS-27 Airlock

Beautiful new scenario with a surprising twist in it too.

Atlantis though is carrying the external airlock on this mission.  If I remember right that was not installed in the vehicle until her OMDP prior to STS-66.

You could be right, of course.
Since this was a Department of Defence mission there's not much info available for the developers I guess.
But this Lacrosse must have been disbanded a long time ago by now, so I don't see the reason for keeping it secret.

It is not even a matter of it being a DOD mission as the airlock is not a simple payload element, but a structural part of the vehicle that requires months of structural modifications and rerouting of pneumatic and electrical lines and cables.  It just can't be installed and removed like the RMS or ODS can.
