Title: Earth surface scaling
Post by: Stannny on December 20, 2014, 01:33:08 AM
Hello guys,

Can anybody tell me what is the Earth surface scaling used in the simulator? I mean does the Miscelanious Controls minimap (Mission Control Center) exactly correspond the position where on orbit the Shuttle really is? For example, flying at 161NM orbit I can see both Florida, Cuba and Atlantic in front, several minutes earlier I see Gulf of Mexico from the right and Great Lakes region from the left.

Here is the screenshot:

Is the view really so wide at such altitude? It would be also great if developers add some more ambience to the earth surface in the next instalments of the simulation, for example flying over the dark side of the earth populated areas should be more bright, for example large Australian cities.
