Title: How is everything coming
Post by: vinny002 on January 21, 2013, 03:26:52 PM
Hi, Cthulhus!

How everything coming with SSMS 2? I'm still waiting patiently for the new SSMS 2! Thanks!

          Your friend,
        Vincent

Hi, bjbeard!

Please stay on topic. This forum is for discussing space shuttle mission simulator. Thanks!

To blow up this thread?

On topic - I severely doubt that any form of badgering of the alpha team is going to make the development of SSMS2 go any quicker...

Can we not wait for some official thread to be created with regards to progress instead of resorting to creating our own? After all they only end up going off topic, and resort to wild speculation where it becomes increasingly hard to remember what was actually fact.

Lets have a bit of self control people

I agree that is it probably best that all SSMS v2 stuff be kept in its own thread.  Otherwise, the board may become a bit unwieldy.....

and just having posted that, I notice the old big super mega v2 thread has been closed, so....nevermind I guess.    Go for it.

I will tell you one thing that I really would love to have in version 2...the APU sound.   I love that sound.

I don't think another SSM 2 progress thread makes sense. As the first one already was, almost to the day (tomorrow) without true results for two years and more than 30 pages. Except people keep posting that they patiently wait or that others have to wait patiently.

I have to admit that some of you are indeed rather patient. It's a gift which I don't have to that extend.

Well....there are other things to do in life than just SSMS.    I have other ways to fly the Space Shuttle.    and I still have plenty of flights left in my current SSMS run through.    So....I am in no hurry to get version 2 out.   Especially before it is ready.   Certainly do not want to get the game, sit in the flight deck on STS-1 and then get bugs there punching me in the face.

Indeed, this is enough now on the development status questions. We've been given enough tid-bits, screenshots, and information about SSMS2. When it's done, or even past Alpha stage, the news will flow our way almost immediately I'm sure. Imagine yourself as one of the astronauts who had to wait for the "return to flight status" of the Shuttles and just be patient. I for one am enjoying my "retirement" flights of ssms2007 with STS-100 under way. May I suggest the same? Fly all missions in order one last time on hardest setting. By the time you're done, wait one month before asking about ssms2 status again.  ;)

Sounds like a good plan.  That is what I am doing at the moment.   STS-98 currently on orbit......

And I stream them from time to time so my friends can follow along.

I just watched the other thread and kept hoping. There were lots of rumors flying as to the exact delay of SSMS2, from personal problems to financial woes.

If it's the latter, I think just about every person on this forum would love to:
A) Have you complete a mission in alpha, and have us pony up the maybe half or heck, even full price of the expansion to "help" alpha test, or

B)A kickstarter drive, etc.

Loved the first one, looking forward to the sequal!

Hi, Guys!

I'm still here! @ Cthulhus, how is the SSMS 2 coming along? Thanks!

Vinny knock it off! Badgering the devs wont make things go any faster. They will let us know when release is close.

Why couldn't one of those rocks have fallen on your computer???

Bit harsh maybe Mr Beard, but I do agree with the fundamental point that there is zero point in badgering any mods here about it's release.

There's news when there's news

Hi, bjbeard!

Please relax! I'm just asking Cthulhus a simple question about the SSMS 2. Thanks!

            Cheers,

Unfortunately Vincent, I have a feeling there IS NO NEWS because noone has posted any.

I dont really want to see this as the next 42 page thread with nothing worthwhile in it, so please have some patience for some news to come from their direction.

There is nothing to be gained by constantly asking

Thanks!

No shots..no info..nothing...everything's stopping...

so strange.

Hi, MECO!

You got the point there! It is better to have the SSMS 2 that is developed correctly than release the SSMS 2 that bunch of bugs! @ DenisFerrari, nothing is stopping, the developers are just taking their time getting the SSMS 2 working properly, and they got the big feature they're working on right now. Please just hang in there! Thanks!

          Cheers,
        Vincent

Hi, bjbeard!

It is no sarcasm, and please don't worry, the new SSMS 2 will be released eventually! So patience, please! Thanks!

there IS NO NEWS because noone has posted any.

Because there obviously isn't any news to be posted. Which pretty answers the question. No answer can be an answer as well.

Are we thinking 2013 or are we thinking 2014?  Whatever the answer is, it's fine, I just want to know whether to let it be and forget about it for a while or whether something is imminent.

Thanks for working a great program!

...any news about SSMS2? ...I think this project is day by day disappearing...
Hope to be wrong but too much time seems passing...

Let's keep waiting :(

Hi, DenisFerrari!

No, no! The SSMS 2 project is not day by day disappearing! It just takes a very long time to work on the SSMS 2! Please just hang in there, the new SSMS 2 will be finished and Let's wait is right. Thanks!

Seems a pretty dead project to me or at best an amateur one doen by people in their spare time in which case it could be years and years away. The fact we are not seeing any development diaries sems to suggest that development is very intermittent and slow.

Anyway, me, I never got past the 3rd or 4th mission in the present game so I dont even know why I am here. I suppose I am hoping that the next sim will be a little easier - perhaps with some customisability over the difficulty of in space tasks for example which are the things that stop people dead in the missions it seems eg trying to get satellites into the shuttle bay seems to be the real sticking point for me. There seems to be this invsible switch that if it is not hit in the game nothing will work and the only thing is to restart the game again.

I love the rest of the game its a shame I keep hitting these walls. But I know this customisability will never happen because when true hard core fans start developing games they never end well for people like me, who just want to 'pick up and play'.

Once games turn into hard core simulations thats when they start dying due to lack of general interest. I think that is what is happening here. I dont see this game going anywhere its such a niche game with a rapidly diminishing audience of hard core fanatics.

Games like this should strive to bring in lots of space enthusiasts especially kids. It will be a ral shame and a death knell for this game if this doesnt happen with the next incarnation whenever it appears. Theres no point in developing this fantastically realistic simulation if after all that work only ten people ever see all of it.

Anyway end of sermon...god rest another space simulator. Thank god we have Elite Dangerous next year.

Hi, Nats!

The SSMS 2 project is not disappearing! I'm a space shuttle fan! Let's be positive, the SSMS 2 is still in alpha stage and the big feature in the SSMS 2 is being worked on! Please keep it cool and please hang in there, the new SSMS 2 will be released eventually! Thanks!

Already on page 3 of another pointless thread on this topic with no response from anyone official

Can someone lock this? Hopefully an official thread will be made in due course

It has always been a small team. Work is proceeding but slower than planned. That is all.

I think that everything worth to be mentioned about the status has been said.
Thread locked.
